Matching Donation Program is a success!
Thank you to the 137 members of the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club who donated $24,860 to the Bruce Trail Conservancy during the Club's Matching Donation Program from November 2009 through February 2010. Congratulations on an excellent achievement, this amount exceeds the total for the previous year. As promised, the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club has sent a matching cheque to the BTC for the maximum amount of $4000.
As a result of your generosity and other like minded BTC supporters, including significant support from the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Region of Halton, and various foundations; the BTC announced on March 4 th that they are able to purchase the Speyside Sanctuary-a $701,000 purchase, 140 acres in its natural state, close to Milton, containing 2 km's of main trail.
Now that we have succeeded in keeping those Spring Peepers peeping at the Speyside Sanctuary, the BTC will now be able to proceed onto other properties to secure the trail within its conservation corridor. At this time, we are anticipating other properties becoming available for purchase in the Iroquois and Dufferin Highlands sections.
Dave Moule, the Chair of the BTC Land Securement Committee and member of the BTC Caledon Hills Executive Board, reminded us this week that the BTC can always use donations to help secure land purchases. So, if there are special people or occasions you would like to recognize, consider the Bruce Trail Conservancy Land Acquisition Program. You are giving a gift for the future! (the charitable tax receipt certainly comes in handy at income tax time.)
Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club Annual General Meeting – Sunday April 11, 2010 – SPECIAL LOCATION: Caledon Village Place, 18313 Hurontario St/Hwy 10, Caledon Village (Caledon Village Place is on the east side of Hwy 10, just south of the traffic lights at Highway 124, on the south side of Caledon Village.)
Please mark your calendars and join us for the very enjoyable CHBTC AGM hike, meeting, and potluck dinner on Sunday April 11, 2010 (the Sunday following Easter.) The hike is at 10 am. We will be back at Caledon Village Place by 1:30 pm for light refreshments and social hour. The AGM is at 2 pm, followed by a very interesting slide show of a November hiking trip that Gary Hall, an executive member and photographer, took with other members through Patagonia! 4 pm will be our delicious potluck dinner.
Don't go to the Inglewood Community Centre. We have moved halls for this occasion to have a meeting room that is more suitable for presenting a slide show. We look forward to seeing you at the hike, Annual General Meeting, and potluck!
