The setting was a beautiful canopied forest area, with an almost cathedral-like atmosphere, and the sun filtered through the trees to shine on the interpretive plaque that would be unveiled.
Bruce Trail Association President Bob Ellison brought greetings from the Association, and Executive-Director Beth Kummling congratulated the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club on its amazing accomplishments in 2007, both at the Ring Kiln Side Trail and on the Main Trail in the area of the Cheltenham Badlands. Next, Carol Sheppard, Project Co-ordinator, spoke about the scope of the task involved in realizing the goal of opening the Ring Kiln Side Trail. Carol extended thanks and appreciation to the many participants in the project starting from its inception three years ago. The trees echoed the round of applause that was given to all the contributors.
At this point, Janice called upon Roger St. Louis, Regional Manager of TD Friends of the Environment, and thanked him for the support of the Foundation in opening the trail. Roger brought greetings from TD Friends of the Environment and stressed the Foundation’s ongoing support of Bruce Trail initiatives that so greatly benefit the people of Ontario.
The last speaker to be called upon was Bob Owen, Park Superintendent for the Ministry of Natural Resources. Bob brought greetings and congratulations from the Government of Ontario to the Caledon Hills Bruce Trail Club for its success in opening the Ring Kiln Side Trail. Bob further confirmed the strong and beneficial partnership that is enjoyed between the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Bruce Trail Association.
